Requirements

Foreigners (or overseas Koreans) who have a high school graduation (or expected) or equivalent academic diploma.

Document Submission

※ The required documents may be added or subtracted depending on your nationality and visa status. (In addition, the application period and submitting documents are different for D-4 applicants from Vietnam.) Therefore, before applying for the course, please contact the Korean language institute and check what documents you have to prepare.

※ Please choose the language you want to find out the required documents.

[Basic Requirements] 

1. Application & study plan form (Use designated form and attach a photo)

2. A copy of your passport

3. Diploma or certificate of graduation from high school (or higher education)

    3-1) A copy of diploma or graduation certificate

    3-2) Some countries need the original certificate which is approved by Korean consulate or Apostille.

4. A copy of bank statement in English which shows over USD 5,000 balance (Only for D-4 visa applicants)

※ The bank statement should be issued within one month and when you submit it under your parents’ name, you have to submit a family relationship certificate as well.

5. Documents prepared by a Korean reference (Depending on nationalities)

※ Qualification of the reference: over 20-year-old Korean national who resides in Korean and help communication for the applicant well.

※ You will need to submit one of the documents or all documents depending on nationalities. Please contact with the office before submitting documents.

    5-1) Sworn statement of reference (Hongik University’s specified form, no need to be notarized)

    5-2) Personal reference letter (specified form, notarized one)

    5-3) Copy of reference’s resident registration and documents proving reference’s financial abilities

6. A copy of insurance certificate in English (Submitting it after enrollment or join it at the school): Please refer to the Useful Information - Insurance on the homepage

 

[Additional Requirements]

1. Students from other language institutes in Korea (D-4 visa holders who want to transfer to this institute): A copy of alien registration card, the attendance certificate and the academic record from the previous language institute.

※ Eligibility: Students have more than 90% attendance rate in the last one semester

2. Visa holders (e.g. F or H visa) live in Korea: A copy of alien registration card

 

1. All documents will not be returned.

2. All documents must be written in Korean or English. Documents written in other languages must be submitted in Korean or English.

 

Admission Process 

  1) Submit the required documents (Online application, Email, post and visit the office are all available.)

   2) Receive the admission decision (Taking one week)

   3) Payment for application fee and tuition fee

   4) Issuance of admission letter and payment receipt – sending to applicants or Korean references.

   5) Obtain a Visa at Korean embassy in your country

   6) Enter Korea

   7) Orientation and placement test

     * All new students are required to attend the orientation. Students have missed the placement test will be assigned to level 1.

 

Payment Methods

Application fee:  KRW 50,000   * not refundable

Tuition fee KRW 1,550,000 / per term (only Summer term is KRW 1,450,000) 

 

                    <Example>

                          1) Tuition fee for Summer 2018: KRW 1,450,000 / one term

                          2) Tuition fee for Summer and Fall 2018: KRW 3,000,000 / two terms

                          3) Tuition fee for Fall and Winter 2018: KRW 3,100,000 / two terms

※ D-4 visa applicants need to pay for 2 terms tuition fee at once.

※ Textbook fees (KRW 50,000~KRW70,000) are not included.

※ Application, tuition and textbook fee are subject to change.

If your payment shows more than (or less than) the amount of your fees, the school will let you know how to solve the problem at the orientation.

Refund Period

Before the beginning of the term

Full tuition refund (except application fee)

From the 1st day to 5th day of class

70% of the tuition will be refunded

From the 6th day to 10th day of class

50% of the tuition will be refunded

After the 11th day of class

Non refundable

※ If students have refund, their C-3-1 or D-4 Visa is to be canceled. 

※ You can have refund only the bank account under your name.

※ When your bank account is overseas’, transferring fee will be deducted from the amount.

※ Refund takes about two weeks, and about 3 weeks for foreign bank.

 

 Attention

1. Attendance

Students should attend class more than 80% in order to complete the course. (If you attend classes less than 80%, you cannot complete the course and register the next term) 

2. Evaluation

 There are 2 exams (midterm and final test) during one term that evaluate writing, reading, listening and speaking skills. If a student receives less than 70 points on average and under 80% of attendance, he/she cannot step up to the next level.
